Two stigmatized groups provide each other with triumph: sexually-deprived disabled people get laid, and sex workers gain a renewed pride in their work.
Marginalized by the government, the Home Office, and feminist and religious fundamentalists, sex workers not only bring joy into the world, but also rescue disabled people from personal anguish, sexual purgatory, and touch deprivation.
We are currently campaigning for the continuing legality of the buying of sex. A C Grayling wrote about our campaign, “I thought your submission to the Home Office was brilliant and very moving: it’s inconceivable that it won’t have a great impact. ”
If the Home Office gets its way to ban the purchase of sex, disabled people would be the first and most badly affected. Other clients will continue to visit sex workers but, if you are blind, you don't know if you are being followed by a cop, if you need to be pushed in your wheelchair by a PA, taking part in illegal acts would be breaking your contract with them. Many disabled people find it virtually impossible to be "naughty". Fingers crossed, this crazy legislation will never materialise.
