Hello
While I'm waiting to resolve the techie glitches getting in the way of adding my profile to the directory, I can give you some details about my flat in London for anyone thinking about a visit.
I expect I'll be asked to remove this post once my profile is working ok but it would be great if I can leave it here for now as my newspaper advert is no longer allowed to even hint at having premises so I can't say "wheelchair accessible" anymore.
ARGH!! Sledgehammer 1 Commonsense NIL. Don't get me started!
My flat is on the ground floor of a lovely restored Victorian terrace in a friendly neighbourhood street. There's a council carpark across the road but so far my clients with mobility issues have been able to find spots on my street just a few doors along. I can meet you at your car or taxi if you like.
There's a single 15cm step from the path to the front door and another single 15cm step at the front door itself. I have portaramps for those. The gateway (no gate to faff around with), tiled pathway, and all the doors are 70cm wide. My clients who are wheelchair users have found the turns ok into my flat from the hallway then into my bedroom.
The bathroom is down the hall with a single 15cm step just before the bathroom door which is 60cm for some bizarre reason. Once inside, the bath is 55cm high but the shower hose is detachable for easy use.
In the bedroom there's a big comfy armchair and the bed is 65cm high.
Guide dogs are welcome and there's room for them to stretch out on the bedroom floor for a snooze. The wood floor is nice and cool. My lovely cat spends the day on her cushion at the front window so she may only come and have a look and then go back to sleep. Or she might sniff your belongings first. She has a thing for rubber apparently. Or a sock fetish. I'm not sure and she won't say. =^oo^=
If you'd like to be accompanied by your PA, I have a nice back garden they're welcome to wait in with a nice cup of tea and some birdsong (and ANOTHER cat!) Or the high street is just around the corner with loads of cafes and shops. Lots of bargains and charity shops for a forage.
Anyway, I hope that info helps. If you want to ask about anything else, just let me know.
Rosie
